Congrats to those who got the jobs done successfully.
Helmar's Bench. Well. Firstly most of the long screws that were holding the old seat down broke off while getting them out, so avoiding the simple task of simply screwing them back in again. Secondly some of the supporting wood was rotten so we had to make new ones. Thirdly the spare screws I had were rather long, and the oak was very hard. Mick and Murph were puffing a bit trying to screw them in, and more than one broke off while doing so! Then it started raining, and we were well into overtime rates. So we have left the job without the actual seating bit for a week. Sorry Jon, but you did slope off halfway through. If you had stayed with a hammer we might have done it! I will buy smaller screws for next week, meanwhile you can perch on the bench supports, but don't fall off.
