Last Wednesday
We had a big bonfire (I hope the man who will quote for levelling it will come and look before it gets full up again). We filled some holes on the allotments, fitted some door closers at the Dacre Rooms, spread some bark under the play things on the Rec and removed some trees growing on graves at the churchyard and took the branches back to the allotment bonfire. Further Out Thursday October 7th - BobM and Davina, short stories and songs about environmental issues. Dacre Rooms 1930. £5 in advance - Mo 833341, or £7 on the door. Progress last Wednesday
We replaced one post and refitted another at the Canham Close/ Park Lane junction. We installed some "Slow Children and Animals" warning signs at Lloyd Way. We painted benches at the Wren Close play area. We removed a sunken stainless steel post from The Green. We took down the Autumn Show signs and stored them away. At the Memorial Hall we fixed the door catch in the ladies loo, remade the bin enclosure gate and improved the catch, and cleared the weeds from around the car park. * Les has made a superb stand for the ''Higher or Lower'' game. If anyone wants to borrow it for any reason let me know. (I have the large cards too). Maybe children would like to play it? * We have been asked to mend the broken bench in one of the football dugouts. It needs a piece of thick-ish plywood, exterior quality, about 8 feet by 3 feet. Has anyone got such a thing lying around before I buy one Last Week We did siding out at the west end of the High Street (not quite finished) and also at Hampden. We also killed off a nuisance wasp nest at the front of the Memorial Hall ready for the Autumn Show. We got the tables out for the Show and put them away again. We ran the games in the garden for the show. Further Out Friday September 9th Dacre Rooms Farmers Market 1200 to 1630, including coffee from 0930 and lunch from 1200, and afternoon tea from 1400 Friday September 16th Lining Up, roof only, now confirmed Friday 23rd September Dacre Rooms coffee morning Friday October 7th Lining Roof and Walls Tennis Club |
