Progress Last Week We continued to remove dead trees and ivy and scrub growing near the pathway, on the Eastern hedge of the Rec, and burned most of it. Yet more to be done. I can't see us finishing the whole length of the hedge before the bird nesting season. The week before last we also removed some low hanging branches over the waste bin by the play area, (leaving stubs for kids to climb) and adjusted the field gate at the entrance to the Rec.. Les, in overtime, put a new latch on the NW gate in the churchyard. Bonnie came for coffee last Wednesday, and Valerie P provided a very nice birthday cake for John's birthday. Thank you. Work done last Wednesday
We removed an enormous quantity of dead trees, scrub, etc from the East hedge at the bottom of the Rec. Due to wet ground it was decided to stop taking it up to the bonfire - the ground was suffering from the Landrover tyres. The bonfire started instantly and burned well. Four links were taken out of the circular swing in the play area, to increase its height above the ground. At the Churchyard Les got ivy off the Harding gate posts, and removed a metal hinge ready to hang a new one in due course Further Out Friday 22nd January Community Coffee in Dacre Rooms 0930 to 1200 Saturday 6th February - Barn Dance in Memorial Hall. Folk Festival Fund Raising Friday 18th March Scout/Guide Quiz Friday 1st July Lining up The Bench WP tree was well received apparently.
